Ron was born on a combination ranch/farm in San Juan County (near Monticello), Utah, where his family raised cattle, Registered Quarter Horses, pinto beans, and wheat. Ron developed an interest in visual arts at a very early age, and always loved being out in the open country. He received his art training at Salt Lake Community College, but also studied Electronics and Business Management. He worked ten years as manager of an electronics wholesale/retail business, and eight years as a Quality Engineer for Rockwell International, and worked for eighteen years at Hill Air Force Base’s Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory.

Ron always enjoyed painting wildlife and landscapes, and while he elected to pursue a career in electronics, his real desire was to create paintings with a focus on the beauty of the world around us.

Since his retirement in 2004, he has focused on developing his skills in fine art. He is represented at Gallery 25, in Ogden, Utah, and his paintings can be viewed at several venues throughout Northern Utah.

Ron and his wife Bonnie, raised five children, and have lived in South Ogden since 1969. During most of those years, he was actively involved in the promotion of visual arts. Mr. Harvey has taught painting and drawing classes at various locations, and has been a member of the Palette Club of Ogden (a group of approximately 125 Artists) for about thirty five years. He was elected president of that organization for two terms, and has served five terms as their Newsletter Editor.

Ron loves the great outdoors. He makes frequent trips with his painting supplies and/or his photography equipment to various locations around the western United States. These trips provide most of the reference material for his paintings. Many of his paintings are Southeastern Utah scenes, and reflect his love for the red-rock country.
